Character Info
Curse Breaker for Hire |
NAME: Colin Blackwell AGE/BIRTHDAY: August 24th, 1973 |
FAMILY: Tracy Blackwell, Alan Blackwell. No siblings. SEXUALITY: Heterosexual. SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None. CHILDREN: None. |
APPEARANCE: Average height with a stocky build Colin has dark blond hair and blue-grey eyes. He tends to dress simply in t-shirts and jeans when left to his own devices and for intense curse breaking and exorcism work but when meeting with and consulting clients he will dress like a professional. The most startling thing about Colin's appearance is a tattoo on his left wrist of a thick, black chain. This tattoo represents the contract binding his soul to a demon. It is marked with a few black magic symbols in between the links of the chain. He covers this tattoo with a collection of bracelets with various talismans and a watch with a thick band. Most people think it is simply a tattoo he regrets but Colin will not talk about it to strangers and gets very aggressive if people will not stop bothering him about it. |
HISTORY: Somehow Colin was born magical even though neither of his parents showed any signs of having any sort of magical gifts. Strange things just happened around baby Colin, including floating toys and pretty lights from nowhere. It opened a whole new world to his parents. Suddenly, the supernatural and magic were very real and so were all the complications that came along with it. A nice man showed up one day and offered to help teach them what they needed to know to raise a magically gifted child. This man was not actually nice. He was a demon in disguise and while he did teach the Blackwells some useful things in the end his main reason for being there was to claim Colin's soul for himself. It was easy enough to do. Colin's father, Alan, was jealous of Colin's magic and wanted the power for himself. The demon made Alan a deal. If he sold Colin's soul to the demon in return he would give him wealth and magical power. There would be no consequences because it was Colin's soul being sold and not Alan's. Of course, the man said yes. Colin wasn't even old enough to understand what had happened to him. He was only three but a tattoo was burned into his wrist the moment his father said yes to the deal. The chain tattoo was the contract binding Colin's soul to the demon. With the deal done, the demon vanished that night. When his mother found out what had happened she demanded a divorce and came very close to physically attacking Colin's father. That never happened. Alan was all too willing to divorce his wife. He vanished from Colin's life to bump elbows with the rich and famous, using his new magical gifts to gain power and influence. Colin and his mother stayed in middle class London and his mother set out trying to find proper training and help for her son. Eventually, she did find a proper wizard willing to help. He trained Colin and was the one to break the news about what Colin's father had done when the boy was old enough to understand. After that, Colin focused his magical training on the art of curse breaking and curse ending, as well as dabbling in exorcisms and cleansing. He has spent his whole life trying to break the contract his father put him under, absolutely desperate to save his soul. So far, he has been unable to do so. Since he spent so much time trying to break his own curse he thought he'd make a living at it. He set up a store in London where people could bring their cursed objects or themselves to get help. As his reputation grew in London and the UK more and more people came to see him. Colin saw the potential for growth and now travels the world breaking curses for people for a fee. He resides in London when he isn't off traveling. |
